In 2011 Laurel left a career in teaching to move to Western Australia with her young family. She used this period to develop an internal story world in which birds call children to escape their urban lives and re-connected with the wild. Her acrylic paintings on canvas and wood form a body of dream like illustrations sharing a story that is implied but never told.
