Visual Art | 2011- 2016
This body of work began during a period of relocation to Western Australia, where I explored feelings of disconnection and reorientation through painting. Drawing on time spent with my children in urban playgrounds, on scorched earth and under the gaze of magpies, I developed a visual storyworld in which birds guide children away from urban spaces and into imagined, untamed landscapes.
Working in acrylic on canvas and wood, I created a series of symbolic, dreamlike images that suggest freedom, transformation, and a return to instinct. These early works became the foundation of my broader practice—one that continues to explore place, imagination, and the more-than-human.
The title Feral State emerged from this period, expressing a return to the wild as both subject and process.
