Laurel Gallagher (b.1978) studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University and Art and Design Education at the Institute of Education, London. She is co-director of Urban Wilderness CIC based in Stoke-on-Trent.
Laurel lives in Staffordshire Moorlands with her husband and children. Her artwork explores physical and psychological connections to land and nature through symbol, action and imagery.
Her paintings embody states of flux between illustration and abstraction, chaos and control, capturing moments of change, transformation and metamorphosis. Layers of dripping, stretched or thickly applied paint create spaces where we are free to explore our imagination and look through worlds of possibility.
Laurel works with household emulsion, acrylic and oil paints using processes that purposely challenge creative control with disruptive techniques. Her work is available for sale by appointment or commission.
